I have been tasked to install two PRI's. Currently the switch I am dealing with is an 81C. There are 4 other tie trunks that are PRI's. The new PRI's will be coming from the local CO. Has there been a post that gives the details on installing PRI's from start to finish? If not could someone get me started in the right direction? I will be installing the 5D12AC cards. Thanks in advance

not a big task, if you have a pri in place, you can skip some steps.. 1st prt your cequ and decide where you can put those cards..

do you have a working pri?
do you know where the cards are going?
what is the ifc (switch type) on the far end?
fas or nfas.. (one d and a back up,or two d's) ?

First, we can assume you already know which loop you are going to use. Second, is this a new route or an addition to an exiting one? Third, have you verified you have a free MSDL port, or are you using a D-Channel daughterbord with the NT5D12 card?

Answer to these few will provide a better direction. If not, just post back and the folks here can run through it. Basically, you will need to build a new loop in LD 17; a new D-Channel in LD 17; cable between the two (if you are not using a daughterboard); programm new trunks (and a new route if needed); install the cables from the faceplate to the I/O panel in the back of the 81; connect your T1 cables from the CO to your backplane and start making calls.

If you need more detail, we can provide it.

Hope this helps,

How can I figure out which loops I can use? As for the D channel I will be using MSDL ports. I ran a stat and this is what I got:

STAT MSDL
MSDL 7: ENBL
MSDL 8: ENBL
MSDL 14: ENBL
MSDL 15: ENBL

Based on this information will can you help on figuring which is the next MSDL port I should use?

try the map msdl command in ld 96, i would hand the person that laid out your switch, hard to tell, look at slots 11,12 13,14

What are the D-Channels for your 4 PRI's? Print those out and see where they reside. It is possible they are daughterboards, and if so, you would need to locate another MSDL card in your switch. The other otopin is to go with another daughterboard on the new NT5D12. Using this, you have the MSDL ports needed.

Print out your ADAN DCH in LD 22 to see where they are located, or go look at your NT5D12's already installed and see if there are cables coming off the J6 port. If there are none, everything is daughterboard defined. If there is a cable connected there, follow it (there will be two tails) to the MSDL cards in use.

this is the command i use to locate vacant channels in my switch
Code:
>ld 96
DCH000
.map dch
DCH 003 : GROUP 02 MSDL 14 PORT 2
DCH 004 : GROUP 02 MSDL 14 PORT 1
DCH 029 : GROUP 01 MSDL 10 PORT 3
DCH 044 : GROUP 02 MSDL 14 PORT 3
DCH 049 : GROUP 01 MSDL 10 PORT 2
DCH 100 : GROUP 00 MSDL 13 PORT 0
DCH 101 : GROUP 00 MSDL 13 PORT 1
DCH 156 : GROUP 04 MSDL 15 PORT 0
DCH 157 : GROUP 04 MSDL 15 PORT 1

Cool tool. I like this very much, especially when you have a ton of D-Channels on your system.

I learned soemthing new today, I think I should be able to go home now.

your right i stumbled on that command a year or so back, it helps.. bad thing about those d's, they control 40 plus pri's.. i hate them being spread so thin
