I am new to the position. The regular IT person is away and I have to publish an access program on Citrix. I am having trouble understanding how to configure Citrix to access the program remotely via Exploror. Is there any documentation I can get that would walk me thru this?

Thanks

I have two access 2000 databases that have to be accessed in the building and off site. They have two different front end mdw security files and I force each to go through via the path in the short cut.
The OS is windows 2000 with SP 4
Metaframe version 1.00 with service pack 3

Hope this helps

*** I have not yet publish any Access apps, so take this with a grain of salt. ***

I would start by checking the Citrix website about installing (not publishing) Access since it used to be special a few years ago.

Second, my gut says to try publishing only the mdw file and see what that gets you. It really should not be terribly complex.

Detail your installation!

Are wanting to do the following:-

Install Access
Place an Access Database on the server
Publish that Database

If so, you need to see about getting help from a consultant as for a complete novice to Citrx, and working with a production server, I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

If Access is already installed, the you could copy the database and publish it as follows:-

Using Citrix Management Console:-

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSAccess.Exe" "D:\My Database\Database.mdw"

Then select a server, group of users. Then right click the new application and Load Balance it, I'd suggest User Load for the time being.

Or wait until your Citrix geezer returns!

Cheers,
Carl.

Thanks Carl. I have managed to publish the application. My problem is determing the URL to use so I can assess it via a web brouser. How do I determine the URL address?

Do you have NFuse or Web Interface on your site?

If not, you won't be able to, well, technically you can!!! You can create a .ica file and a .html file and link people to those and the application will launch.

If you have a "proper" web site then the publish application to the correct group of users and they will get the app the next time they log in.

Cheers,
Carl.
