I've just installed a new SQL Server 2000

I have a DTS job that copies data from an access database to a table

if i run the DTS manually - it works fine and the data is imported

however if i schedule the job to run - it never runs ???
the job never seems to record that it was ever scheduled ??

Has any one has this before - its drving me crazy

I've checked to see if there is a service not running, but all seems to be ok

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Regards

Mike.

Most times that this occurs it is due to a permission thing. Try changing the account that the SQL Server Agent logs on to with to an account that has the access to do what you need.

Check the schedule in the SQL Agent Job and make sure that it is Enabled.

The service is logged on as Administrator and has access to the desk top

The DTS jobs do not appear under the SQL Agent section - but under the DTS Section

Incidentally - I also have an Agent that is running perfectly (some transact SQL)

so why is the dam thing not working !!! grrrrrr

its causing me some serious grief - i'm going on holiday and i need to get this server live before i go !!!

Did you configure the DTS to run as a schedule at all?

Gadgeroonie,

If you right-click on the DTS package name in the list of Local DTS Packages, you will see an option named, "Schedule Package...". If you click on this option you will be able to create and schedule a SQL Agent Job with the same name as the DTS package.

You can then view and edit this new SQL Agent Job just like any other SQL Agent Job.

Thanks for the help guys

the problem turned out to be a drive permission problem to the drive that the access database was on

grrr - how mad was I when I found out !!!
