We have an existing T1 line with AT&T for one of our 888 #. The person who used to handle our definity has ordered a T1 line by another carrier to replace the AT&T one . I would like to know if there is a DEFINITY command than can locate my existing T1 with AT&T, So I can just replaced with the new one. Also is there anything else needs to be done on the Definity switch after connecting the new T1. Appreciate any assistance.

Basic steps:(theres more detail, but too much to type)

Contact provider and verify settings of new and old T1.
they must match or you will need to retranslate accordingly on the switch.

use display sync command to view all the DS1 packs in the switch that are recognized ion the switch. sometimes the tech will (hopefully) label the circuit here.

you should always bring up the new T1 a week before you cutover!, this gives you a chance to verify that it will remain stable.

Never port DID numbers over on the night of the T1 cut! no matter how prepared you may be, you never can tell what will go wrong. this buys you time to complete each step.

build a new trunk group that is identical to the old one and use that for testing, once the T is up and ready to go into service you mearly have to remove the new trunk group and replace the memebrs of the old one with your new one or just change the plug at the smart jack!

To find your old T1 you can do the following:

make a call on the T1 or a call you know will grab a channel from it.

while on the phone call, type in the command status station xxxx the telephone your using to make the call.

note the connected to port number.

type display port xxxxxxx

this will tell you what trunk group your using.

display trunk group xx and check the members, this will tell you the board your using and when you status sync, you can see what DS1 your using if it's labeled.

trace the cable from the back of the switch of that slot number where the card is and find the smart jack where it is plugged in too.

Thanks for reply back, I used the display sync and was able to locate the old circuit. The new carrrier is asking for the dnis digit on the circuit. where can I get that of the Definity.

What they are asking is what digits do you want to have come over the circuit for the switch to see.
It would be hard for someone on the forum list to answer.
If these 888# calls where going to a specific ext you might want them to send those digits. If it was going to a hunt group you might use the hunt groups digits, It maybe also went to an auto attendant, if you knew the ext for the auto attd you could use those digits.
Hopefully you have some documentation around somewhere that has some of the configuration that was set up on that switch.

the existing T1 goes to a huntgroup and is set to go to a vdn extension, so is the extension of that vdn is what they are looking for. Thanks

where ever the call terminates first should be your dnis digits. your carrier is sending you digits whenever the ldn or 888# which points to the ldn is dialed. all you have to do is look at the extension number of the hunt group to find your dnis.
