I HAVE BOUGHT 2 2501 ROUTERS I NEED TO KNOW WHAT CABLES I REQUIRE TO CONNECT THE ROUTERS UP BACK-BACK.
ALSO WHAT CABLE WILL I NEED FOR A CONNECTION FROM THE ROUTERS TO MY COMPUTER, WHICH RUNS WIN 2000.
IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME IT WOULD MEAN ALOT.

What specific interface is on the back of the two router? Are they both the same? If you aren't sure just post the part number off the connection in the slot on the back of the router.
FYI, you can usually create a back-to-back connection for almost any typical installation. Is this for lab/training purposes?? Regards,
It is a fairly thorough series of instructions on setting up different home labs, obviously including back-to-back scenarios. If you are also interested in mocking a Frame-Relay set-up than this will definitely spill the beans

You can connect the router via the serial link OR the AUX port back to back. the AUX port just needs the same cable you use for the console port.. a rolled 8 wire with RJ45s on each end.

Following MikeS' example, all you would need is the same cable you use for console connections. This is called a "rolloever" cable. Perhaps you got one with the routers. It is always a flat, baby-blue or black colored cable. It has a specific pin configuration, so don't try to use anything else. I'm sure whoever you got the routers from can supply you with a couple, as all of us know these things are always lying around and most Cisco guys only need one or two on hand.

You need to connect a DTE and a DCE cables (two different cables that connect to one another) to the serial ports. Connect the DCE (serial 0)to the router that you will set the clockrate on, and the DTE (seial 1) on the other router. The Aui ports are your Ethernet ports which connect to your switches via straight through cables.
