Hi everyone,
My boss wants me to go around the office and check our staff pc's for
programs/software that should not be there like (firewalls, music file etc..).
Anyone have an idea what programs/softwares to look for that my harm the
computers? I have no idea where to start.
Thanks in advance

Have a look around this site, you may need to purchase the corporate version as the free version is only for personal use.

As for particular data files that may be on the machine but shouldn't be, you may have to look yourself using Search and any appropriate file extension such as .jpg, .wma, or whatever.

thank you linney. I will look at the site you recommended.

Hi,
is there any more files extension that I need to look for besides: jpg and wma?
Thanks

If you really care that much:
Image Files: BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PCX, TIF, PNG

Sound Files: AIF, AU, MID, MIDI, MP3, RA, RAM, RM, WAV

Movie Files: AVI, MOV, MPE, MPG, MPEG, QTW, QT

I would personally do a quick check for programs like Kazaa, Morpheus, LimeWire or anything bad like that, and if you see something spyware-ish then I would check the computer a lot closer for those types of files.

Check out Ilient's SYSAID, and SpiceWorks. Both gather info remotely.
