I have an access Server AS5300 with a voice card and a quad t1/pri option card.

It came with an invalid IOS image and I'm not sure which feature set I should download from cisco.

Can anyone help??

I checked Cisco IOS Upgrade Planner application and I found out that you must select the correct feature set from the Software Feature Sets options. In this case you may select, for example, IP/VOICE PLUS or IP PLUS but both image files have exactly the same c5300-is-mz-16a.bin (in tnis case) name. If you could do that, it is better to follow the IOS Upgarde Planner page by page. In any way, if this help, an AS5300 image name starts with c5300-.

thanks alot, I actually found out my features :)

i have to use an image that supports IP PLUS/VOICE

thanks alot for you reply

i got the image but when I try to xmodem the file (i'm in rommon) i get an error saying that the file is too big

i have 128mb main memory and 16mb flash...

but i have an old invalid image on there...

how do i erase it from rommon???

i'm stuck in rommon and i downloaded a smaller image and it still won't boot.

something has to wrong with the as5300 itself...

flash may be bad...

Just in case, modify the config-register to 0x2142 (ignore config file in NVRAM). In the link I sent you use the confreg option of the ROMMOM. If you were able to copy to flash an smaller image the flash must be fine.
By the way, would you post a hardcopy of the boot process?

here's the dump of the boot... After I switched to confreg 2142 i got a whole bunch of buss erros and an error saying that the memory accessed was too low...I couldn't save that dump though...

By the way, you did not enter "confreg 2142" commadn, did you. I was revising the documentation and the procedure is the following:
rommon 7 > confreg

You must reset or power cycle for new config to take effect.

You should enter YES for the ignore system config info (config-register 0x2142 is a router command). Would you like to try it again?

cool...

no wonder i got all those wierd errors messages when I used confreg 2142.

:)

I tried everything cisco had to offer including the rommon procedure you're suggesting.

It's ok! the AS5300 isn't even ours yet, we had it for testing before we bought it

it's a good thing too...

I spoke to some one fro cisco and they recoomended that we send it back to the manufacturer for repairs...

We agreed that the flash might be corrupted

i appreciate the help though
