Hi!!

I have a big problem, so here is the Question.

I got dbf files from a table space

PORTAL_DATA.dbf
PORTAL_INDEX.dbf

I need to load up those files into a new oracle instance.

My oracle instance is running on RedHat 7.1 (Oracle 9.0.2)

If some one knows how to do it, please help me

Or if I can import those files?

Thanx for your help!!

There are a couple of ways.

1) export the data, and then import into the new instance using exp/imp
2) flag the originating tablespace as transportable. You can then copy the dbf files to the new instance and add the new tablespace.

If ALL you have are those 2 files, you are probably out of luck..
You could maybe modify the target instance to add 2 tablespaces with those files as its data ( create the tablespaces, specify data files with the same name and then replace them ( after shutting down the instance) with the files you have - but that would risk making the new instance unusable...

yes

I know, I am out of luck... :(

I only have dbf files!

I don't see why you are out of luck; either of myersg's suggestions seem very workable to me. Have you tried them?

Hi carp,
It seems from his reply that he does not have the original database instance that used the dbf files, so he cannot export from a non-existant instance.
pavelcoan - is that correct?

Ah! Yes, if that's the case then pavelcoan is indeed out of luck.

:(

you're right carp!!

Now, I'm planning a recovery/backup strategy :)

Does anyone knows where can I find docs about it?

Also, can someone give me a little advice?

thanx!!!

I'm not convinced that we have clarified the situation. Pavelcoan, what exactly are the files you have? You say you have PORTAL_DATA.dbf and PORTAL_INDEX.dbf. Do you have any others? If not, how did you manage to get just two files from a database and not the others?

It is very important to know exactly what you have. The more files you have available, the more likely it is that you will be able to recover your data. In particular, if you have all the files for the system tablespace, there is a good chance you can recover the tables in your two user tablespaces. That's even if you are missing some other data files.

ok

my server was hacked and the only thing can I get after that, was only those files
:(
