Hi,

My name is Raymond and I am completely new to
Crystal Report. I used other report utilities before
for our systems. Well, as my boss asks me to do
some OLAP reports in Crystal Report now....and
I have a Crystal Report 9 Enterprise Ed CD. As the
product cover said it should include Crystal Analysis
9 professional but I can't find the startup shortcut
after I install the enterprise version.

Does any expert tell me how to start the Crystal
Analysis 9 Prof. from the product I installed?
As I need to do some interactive OLAP for our data,
(let our users to perform the drap-and-drop process)
can only Crystal Analysis 9 achieve this?

Really Urgent! Please help me.

Thanks for your kind attention,
Raymond

Crystal analysis is only an interface, so you would need an OLAP database behind it (Hyperion Essbase, IBM DB2, Microsoft Analysis Services and Holos are supported).

Also, Crystal Analysis comes on a separate disk from Crystal Report and Crystal Enterprise. It is also a separate license, so if you haven't bought a CAP license you won't be able to use it...

Finally, you can do OLAP reports in Crystal Report without the use of Crystal Analysis, these are completely separate tools...

Hope this helps.

Thanks dialworld!

Well, your post is really helpful! Have you tried Crystal
Analysis 9 (CA9) Professional before? I want to know if a
user wants to create his own OLAP report from data
available in OLAP dataserver, then can CA9 prof. provide
drag and drop feature to do this?

Thanks,
Raymond

That would depend upon the OLAP Dataserver type, and what you mean by drag and drop.

Crystal Reports can create OLAP reports against OLAP databases, and features a GUI interface for dragging fields onto the report canvas.

Hi synapsevampire ,

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean the GUI of
Crystal Analysis 9 provide a feature that allows
users to do generate their OLAP reports themselves?

Raymond
