Hi all, I am looking for advice on the above. I have 10 1601's (with serial) connecting back to a 2620 with a dual E1 Channelised interface. If anyone can give me advice on the config of the E1 interface it would be great. I have a rough idea but have never had to config one of these before and just want to make sure i do it correct.

I haven't messed around with any E1 interfaces yet, but I'm assuming aside from maybe signalling and speed its similar to a T1.

For a channelized T1, you set the framing and linecode to be the same on each end (if you are back to back), and also one side must have internal clocking, other line. Then you'll use the 'channel-group' command to group timeslots and set speed. This will automatically create a serial interface that you can configure with ip and encapsulation and you should be ready to go.. Hope that wasn't too confusing and helps...

for a t1 (example):

controller t1 1/0
clock source int (or line)
framing esf
linecode b8mz
channel-group 1 timeslots 1-24 speed 64
(this will generate a serial 1/0:1 interface)
interface s1/0:1
ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
encapsulation ppp

then similar on the other end.

Thx Guys, I'll give it a try, the interface card is a
NW-2CE1B, It will be taking 10 Leased lines (of various speeds). It will definatly be using time slots i.e. 1 slot for a 64k and 2 slots for a 128 etc. I just want to be on the safe side.

Cheers
