I just uprgraded my whole computer [except for drives], and now anytime I try to play World of Warcraft, or Evercraft, it has problems:
When playing W.o.W. the monitor stops recieving a signal from the computer [indicated buy the light ont he monitor changing color]
but when playing EverCrack, It just shuts off, and I have to remove pwer from the motherboard for a few seconds to turn it back on.

my motherboard is an ASUS A7v600-X rinning an AMD XP 2800+
the graphic is a Radeon 9600

someone had suggested power issues [was using 350w] but I upgraded to 500w, and I can play Everquest now for about 30 minutes before it dies.

if you need any other information let me know.

In your BIOS settings do you have a temp monitor? I have had trouble in the past with the setting being too low and when it reached the max it would shut down to prevent over heating. It could be possible with the video card such as yours produces more heat (enough to set it off in the BIOS) and shuts it down. Try upping the temp high and see if that works.

I could not change the temperature for my motherboard's CPU Overheating Protection feature, the closest thing to it was enable/disable monitoring of temp, I will try to disable that and see if it will work.

Sounds good let us know if that works. Thank you.

I had a problem simular to this with my radeon 8500. I could play a game with no problem, when i quit the game the computer would reboot. I updated my radeon drivers and the problem stopped. Try going to ati's website and download the latest driver for your card and see what happens.

The enable/disable monitoring did not work, I will try the drivers

the rabbit hole gets deeper:

I updated the drivers for my video card, and when windows loaded, it died, then I turned it back on, and it booted up into windows, but I couldn't see anything, my monitor didn't even show the bios splash screen, i thought that maybe my video card was bad, so I swapped with known good [a radeon 7200] and it still didnt work, I removed power for a few hours, and being that the on base computer lab is closed I could not post here, I went back to my room, and thought why not try it again for good measure [I swapped my 9600 back in] and it works, I havent tried anything intensive yet, but i doubt the problem would magically fix itself,

I have another thought:

I just remembered that I had to downgrade my motherboard bios from rev. 1007 [most recent] to 1003 because of keyboard issues with the newer bios updates, could it be the bios or a bad motherboard?

I was looking on other forums for a similar problem people have been having, and I came across some people having problems with this motherboard and ATI graphics cards, which said that changing from 8x to 4x agp will fix simptoms that I am having,
I tried that and it did NOT work...

If I can't get it fixed this week, I'm sending it back, and getting a replacement for the motherboard,
please help so I don't have to waste time waiting for a new motherboard...
