All shades of grey colors, converted to PDF using Adobe Acrobate Extended Pro 9.0 version, are automatically displaced by purple color. There is no problem with other colors. They appear in PDF documents exactly as they are in native documents.
I use tried MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD & PaintshopPro and experiencing the same problem with grey color only if print ti to PDF printer (Acrobate). The documents print to true colors on other printers (HP & Epson.
I have looked everywhere include on the net but did not find any clue. Adobe support was useless. Please help.

...what are the RGB values used for the grey in question?

...can you post a link to a sample PDF that has been converted using the Acrobat PDF printer driver?

...also what PDF settings are you using when printing to the PDF printer?

Hi Andrew

Thanks for extending help. The RGB values are 153.153.153 for the grey & it has turned to purple when I printed it to Adobe PDF printer driver. The original document was created in MS Word 2007. I have uploaded both the original & PDF for you review. Also included is screen shots of PDF settings.

Here is the link (it is Zip file...clean)

Thank you

...OK, have downloaded and had a look...

...so to clarify the workflow a bit, you print from MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD & PaintshopPro DIRECTLY to printer and all is fine?

...printing from above same applications to PDF, an issue arises with grey, when viewed on screen in acrobat all looks fine, but when printing to above printers mentioned the problem appears?

...as a test, print the page of this PDF file (there is only one page):

...printing from above same applications to PDF, an issue arises with grey, when viewed on screen in acrobat all looks fine, but when printing to above printers mentioned the problem appears?...............when viewing in acrobat & printing the same all grey colors appear purplish and they print purple too.

...as a test, print the page of this PDF file (there is only one page):........... The tested page printed fine (as intended) but it appears purple on my screen.

...monitor sounds very whacked out to me, the other area to address is that of the PDF settings, currently the default is set to "Standard(1)" which in turn is set to the adobe color settings file which is "monitor color"...

...in the PDF settings of the print dialog, from the "default settings" pull down menu, choose "PDF/A-1b:2005 (RGB)", and do a test print from that...

...this in turn changes the adobe color settings file away from "monitor color"...

...for the monitor issue, change the acrobat preferences (edit > preferences), under color management (left hand pane), i imagine that is "monitor color", change "settings" pull down menu to something else "North America General Purpose 2" will do...

...if you have Adobe Bridge and the full CS3 or CS4 installed, you best to synchronize the color settings in the Bridge application, under teh "edit" menu...
