I just reinstalled WIN2000 on top of a ghost image/backup. Now when trying to install Office & a couple of other apps - I get the error message Windows installer service is not running or you are running in Safe Mode.
I'm not running in Safe Mode ... and the service is running.
Is there a way to reinstall the service???

Thanks.

Thanks, tried that. It claims the service is aready installed. How could I DEinstall a service?

The installer service is actually an executable (C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe)

I guess you could delete (move to a new location) this file.

I had similar problems with the installer service a long time ago and ended up having to boot in safe mode a delete the exe and all associated DLLs before I could run the patch.
