help: Blur tool not working

Hey, im new on the site, been lurking for a while though.

Ok, im kind of an intermediate Photoshopper, and i need to try and sort this problem fast but i dont know whats wrong.

My blur tool has stopped working. Period. It was working on the last piece of work i did (about 4hours ago now) but i cant get it to even make a mark or smudge. All my other effects are working.

I am stumped. Can anyone tell me what to do?
Nothing is 'locked' and its on a new layer. The document is 8cm x 8cm x 800dpi. Its just been desaturated.

HELP ME PLEASE?! i have a deadline in a few hours and i cannot even fathom whats wrong.. something trivial that i have over looked i think.

Have you deleted the preferences/settings for the app?

is the opacity set to 0% for that tool?

no the opacity and strength are 100% how would i have deleted the preference/ settings?

it can't hurt to reset the preferences unless you've made changes. see thread229-1125611 to reset

sometimes PS just seems to lose some of the prefs
