Hi Everyone, I hope somebody can help with this rather Odd issue I'm experiencing.

On this site there has been a 2003 AD for about a year, but there is still an
NT4 BDC running (Not my choice I've been advising replacement for a while) One of the users(a director) had a long standing restriction on his account that he could only log on to His machine. We recently changed his PC, removed the restriction from activedirectory and can log on to the PC ok. Unfortunatley we cannot connect to shares on the NT4 BDC machine every time you try it comes up with an error saying no permissions to log on from this computer. I checked in User manager for domains on the NT Box and there is no restrictions showing on the account there. It looks like the restriction has been removed but it has not refreshed to the shares on the NT box. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as i have tried everything i can think of except for deleting and re-creating the user account which may cause a problem due to un documented permissions.

Cheers

Check your policies and see what types of restrictions are in place. BTW, if it's only an NT 4 BDC, can you migrate any data off it, shut it down and upgrade your AD to Native mode? Or, if you still need it there are utilities out there that will demote NT 4 PDC/BDCs. The one I used several times is called UPromote. Very nice and easily done.

This ended up being resolved by something as simple as a reboot. In talks now to replace the NT4 server with a nice big shiny HP running 2k3
