HELP: a problem when setup Oracle8 PE.

when i setup Oracle8 PE an error occurs:

Jrew "The Program Performed Illegal Operation".

How can i solve it?

I too have just come across this problem that when i setup Oracle8 I get the error: -

Jrew "The Program Performed Illegal Operation".

Info gained from the net so far suggests that this is a problem with Pentium 4 PC's, as is my case.

Unfortunately I'm not able to come up with a fix that works, can anyone help?

there is also a possiblity of cd corruption.
u try installing ora in other m/c if possible if u get the same problem then there may be a cd problem.

Its definitly not CD corruption, I've tried it on various PC's and it fails on every one of the new P4 models we've got both Dell & Compaq, yet works perfect on P3 models

Sussed it!!!!!

After various trials with supposed fixes I've finally sussed it.

Copy the Install CD to a sub folder on the PC.

Find symcjit.dll in the sub folder and rename it to .old

Then run the install from the sub folder.

Hey presto!
