Help 6509 up but can't ses to mod 5

My 6509 switch was powered off for three months, during
new data centre construction.

Started it up the other day, can't ses to module 5
where the SUP720 is

message: Feature not supported on Module 5.

module is online and status OK


Kind of lost here would appretiate help.

Do a show mod and see if it sees the msfc . My guess the msfc is stuck in rommon . At the command prompt type switch console and see if this gets you into the msfc and see if it is in rommon .

yes it is in ROMMON.

I entered "i" however is did not change.

Maybe the image is corrupt?

I am thinking of copying an image from a working
6513 and placing it on the PCMCIA card?

I thought sup modules are only be placed in either slot 1 or 2. I know for fact for supervisor II, but not sure about sup 720.

Sup 720's are in slot 5 and 6 . At the rommon prompt type dir bootflash: and see if the image is there . If it is just type boot bootflash:<imagename> . Once loaded up insert a boot statement in the config and save it . For some reason on the 720's if you do a write erase it takes out the boot statement and will go into rommon .
