Hello
we have a definity G3r rel version 6, can anyone tell me how to set up a ISDN fax off this switch, we have an ISDN server, how do we program the BRI's, do they need to be set up in any particaular way, eg data modules,

thanks

if you have Release 6 issue 2 or higher you can make an
ISDN BRI Trunk for your isdn-faxserver.
check first if in the system customer options ISDN BRI trunks is set to Y. (i think page 2)
then you need also a TN556 board.

If you have all of this let me now and i will
give you all the settings for building the bri-trunk.

Bobfox,

Would you mind sending me those settings as well?.

Many Thanks

Sorry for the late reply Scott

First thing you have to do is add your bri trunk board.
add bri-trunk-board xxxxx (expl. 01a08)
than you can give it a name like faxsrv
companding mode: a-law or mu-law (dont know what you use)
port 1: network
protocol:i use etsi
Tei: auto (if auto not works you can try 0)
Time fill: ones
port 2: network
protocol:i use etsi
Tei: auto (if auto not works you can try 0)
Time fill: ones

Now you can add a trunk
Group type: ISDN
Service type: tie (Some faxservers work only with tandem)
Supplementary service protocol: C
( C=etsi, B= 10, 12 and 13, For all other use A )
page 2 i have only the maintenance on Y
page 3
Service/feature: tie (or tandem like page 1)
Called len: 4
CPN/BN: none
next page(members page)
1: 01a0801 (port 1 channel B1)
2: 01a0817 (port 1 channel b2)
3: 01a0802
4: 01a0818

this is like i have set up a faxserver.
i hope this will help you to set up your faxserver.

Greets, Bob

Many Thanks Bob!

we get the upgrade from v6 to r10 soon so we'll have the 'add bri board' command soon. I've been needing this for quite a while. Thx again.

Bob

do we need to set this up as ISDN trunks, we thought we could just put the ISDN faxserver on the end of 2 BRI's (extensions) from the switch..could you expain in more detail please why we need to do it via trunks..

THX
