Hello on my taskbar, what could it be?

Hi all,
I just booted up my HP Notebook (N5470, P III 1.06GHz, 512 RAM, WinXP Home), and I saw an icon on my taskbar that said 'Hello'. It had the Wireless notebook icon next to it. It appeared in the Task Manager, simpy as Hello, but I saw no processes that showed hello or anything like it to indicate whether it was an exe, or dll or what. I did a search on the disk and found no files named hello.
I'm running an Anti-Spy, and then will run a virus scan. I use McAfee.
Any idea if this is a legit Windows app, or some kind of trojan, spy, etc. I killed the application with Task Manager with no apparent ill affects.
TIA,
James

It could be either a simply nice message from your wireless saying hello meaning you have a connection or it could be spyware. My advice look on the manual to see if it says anything about that. Go here and run this scan and see what you find.

reply with what you found out in the manual and what results you got on the test.

electronicsfreak,
Thanks for the tips. I ran the PC-Cillin scan. I went ahead and did the full scan. It didn't find any virus, nor did McAfee. The online scan did find a lot of cookies, which they deemed as spyware, whereas Spybot Search and Destroy deemed them harmless. I went ahead and removed them with the online scan.
I think you may be right in that the Windows Wireless Network Wizard may be trying to establish or confirm a wireless connection. I've been using a Netgear PC-Card adapter and its Smart Wizard software for about a year, and have never seen this type of 'message' for lack of a better word. Perhaps there was a conflict of some kind between the Netgear and Windows Wireless software. Unless someone knows something specific about it, I'll leave well enough alone unless it pops up again.
Thank you once more for your help.

When people say "I hate computers!", it's only because they don't know how to use them.
