Hello,

Im having a problem with my application compatibility scripts. I am using the chkroot.cmd and roodrv.cmd files in particular. I have them set to map the users "home" directory to the "W" drive. They were working just fine but all of the sudden, they have stopped working.

I am running Windows 2000 Server w/SP2 with Metaframe 1.8. Is it possible to undo and re-run these scripts in order to get them to work again?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

What happened in between them working and then not working?

Any changes on the network? To the DC?

I would think that simply re-running the scripts would fix it (if everything else is correctly set up) - check your rootdrv2.cmd file and make sure that still points to w:

Hope this helps

Nothing has changed at all in the environment. I have re-run the scripts with no luck. Could it be that I am running Windows 2000 servers in a NT 4.0 domain? I have had some other issues with this in the past few months.

Thanks.

I would guess that your domain administrator may have made some access rights modifications to the PDC or the server which contains the users' home directories.

Open a user session and see if you can map a drive to the home directory location. If it fails, check permissions on the home share AND the folder.

Check the event logs on the Terminal Server(s) and the PDC for login errors. Maybe using a tool such as Filemon could help; (but don't run it when all the users are logged in!).

Hope this helps

I ran into a problem with mapping a drive on a NT 4 member of my Win2000 network. The Administrator could gain access to the mapped drive but everyone eles was denied access although the mapping command completed.

Microsoft technical support diagnosed the issue down to the time & date setting differences between the Win2000 and NT 4 machines.

By using the NET TIME command we have corrected the problem.

Hope this helps.
