hello,

I am Trying to set up a AA on a Avaya Partner 5x9 acs release 7 Processor with a avaya partner mail vsR5.0....
i have set up #206 (group distrib) group 7-assign all lines also i have program the auto attendant exts. every time i call the main number it does not ring any phone but there is a message"your call is being transfer to the receptionist"... i do have a greeting for announcement 1 day and night. any ideas

thanks in advance.

You've done good by assignig the lines to #206-7, but you missed assigning the voicemail port extensions to #505-7.

If all you have is the 509 and the VS mail, the port extension numbers are 23 and 24 for a 2 port VS mail. 21-24 for a 4 port.

I have assigned exts. 28,29,30 and 31 to #505-7

The ACS 5x9 is Extensions 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18.

The VS Mail goes in Slot 1, or in the 2nd slot of a 2 slot carrier. It is Extensions 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24.

The active ports work from the BOTTOM up, so for a 2 port system, that's 23 and 24. If you have a PC card in the VS mail, expanding it to 4 ports, then it's 21, 22, 23, and 24.

Right now, the VM ports are receiving calls, but not filtered through Hunt Group 7, so they are not getting "Mode Codes" to instruct them how to handle the calls, and are defaulting to transferring to the Operator.

Remove 28, 29, 30, and 31 from the group, and put in the correct ones.

I have installed the VM in slot 2 next to the processor...this is a 5 slot carrier. i do have a PC card in the VS mail
thank you i will try this tomorrow.... will let you know if it works.... thanks again

thank you, i changed my VM ports to 27,28,29,30... and AA seems to be answering calls, but when i select 1 for person "A" and/or 2 for person "B" it says invalid entry and it goes back to the aa greeting. i have done the following to assign single digits to the exts.
Intercom-777
0#
(password)-#
9 - programming
3 - Auto Attendants
(auto attendant number 1-4)
(1=Day/2=Night)
6 - Modify
Dial the selector code you want to change, and hear the current setting
9 - Yes you want to change it
----For Direct Extension Transfer, press 5
----For Selector Code Transfer, press 1, then the extension number, then #
The next selector code, if you need to change more than one
*# - No more selector code changes
# - Keep the current recording intact

What am I missing? thanks in advance.

First, the instructions you quoted are for a Partner Messaging, while in your original post you tell us you have a Partner Mail VS. Similar, but some differences. You will need to log into mailbox 99, not 0. Selector code changes are only made to the Day Menu, not to the Night Menu.

You may not have selected the correct Auto Attendant when you made the selector code changes, or the lines may be assigned to a different AA. Each AA has option 6 for line assignment. Lines not specifically assigned to AA 2, 3, or 4 will be answered by AA1.

And, do you really want Selector Code 1 to transfer to a specific extension? This will prevent callers from dialing 2 digit extension numbers that start with 1, such as your entire range from 10 to 18. You might want to have 1 as Direct Extension Transfer, and use 2 and 3 to go to the specific extensions.

well this is a small businness and I dont think they are going to get any bigger. (per Customer)i did assign lines to AA 1 and selector code to digits 1 through 7 actually. but when i go back in to the auto attendant.... it seems like selector codes are not being saved in the vm programming.

thanks....that worked.

i have assign ext. 18 to be my fax machine ext. do i need to remove my fax line from being part of the AA in order for this to work?

ok.. the fax is kind of working. i can receive faxes but not able to send them.. any ideas ?

What happens when you try to fax out? Do you have the lines pooled?

I [love2] "FEATURE 00

Start by using the handset on the Fax machine, or plugging in a single line telephone to the Fax jack, and seeing what happens when you go off hook and dial.

That will tell you if you are getting outside dial tone, or inside Intercom dial tone, and it there are any dialing restrictions on the extension.

I checked the line (fax line) with my buttset i get intercom tone. fax line is not part of the AA.

Then you need to reprogram the Automatic Line Selection for the Fax Extension.

At Ext. 10

Feature 00
Left Intercom Twice
Right Intercom Once
Dial the extension number of the Fax
Dial **
Press the FAX line (should be the only one lit up solid green)
Dial **
Feature 00

Now the Fax machine will get the Fax line as soon as you go off hook
