Hello everyone. I'm hoping to use Exceed to install Oracle 8.1.7 on a Solaris 7 platform. The Oracle documentation mentions:

"If you are using Hummingbird's Exceed X-windows emulator while installing and using Oracle8i, set the window manager to run in "Native" mode so that Microsoft windows functions as the window manager. See your Exceed documentation for instructions on configuring the window manager."

Unfortunately, our Exceed documentation appears to have walked off with the previous incumbent of my post, so any advice as to how to ensure that my Exceed is in 'Native' mode would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think what you are looking for is located at:

Exceed->XConfig->Screen Definition->Window Manager Drop Down List

Select NATIVE.

Hope this helps!!!

Many thanks - I managed to find my way to it eventually, but it's always good to know that you'll get a response here eventually. Thanks again, and try not to be too stressed! ;-)

When installing 8.1.7 for Solaris with Exceed, you will also need to set "Fit Window To Display".

There are a few dialog boxes in the install that are unusable otherwise.
