Hi all. I upgraded AIX from 4.3 to 5.2 over the weekend and I am seeing a performance slowdown all of a sudden. I also noticed in topas that my WAIT% appears to jump up to 90% a whole lot and i never noticed this before. Not sure where to go...help!?!

Thanks bi. I happen to have it on order and I hope it comes in before the holiday!

noober,
bi as usual is correct, 2 or 3 weeks ago something like the problem you're are experiencing has been posted on this forum, that's the reason why I asked you if you're using ESS.
Syscalls are "System calls" or "SuperVisor Calls" as they were called in the old times.
Are the requests to the OS services issued by user programs

Thanks guys...I wasnt sure what ESS was so I guess I assumed I wasnt using it!

Happy New Years!

ESS = Enhanced Storage System (by IBM).
Based on fiber channel technology.
As bi stated, the problem addressed by ML2 is not strictly connected to a kind of HW, but to the standard mngmt of I/O.
Apply those fixes and live happy :))
Have an Happy New Year

QUESTION: is your problem solved with a lot of iowait into TOPAS, after you have installed the ML2 ?

Hello hervedba,
Appears to be on my test machine and hopefully I will not have any troub le this weekend when I upgrade one of my production servers. The ML2 did break my sendmail configuration for some reason and it took me awhile to figure out exactly why but now everything is a green light for me!

noober, what files would you recommend hervedba copying to a safe place so his sendmail doesn't get broken?
