When I plug my Plantronics headsets directly into the headset port on my 3904s/i2004s/1140Es without the M10 they don't work. (With it they do work) I can hear via the ear piece that it is making a connection but no dial tone. On another switch the headsets do work. Any advice on this is appreciated.

First, are they "polaris" headsets? if they are, they won't work.

Second, I have found that when directly connecting to the headset jack, (for that matter, make sure you are plugging in to the headset jack and hot the handset jack,) the age or manufactuing date of the headset seems to matter. As an example, the older H41 (mirage) headsets that we have here don't work without the M10, M12 or M22 amplifier, but the new H41 headset that we brought in work fine.

Irritating, but that's the way it seems to be.

On the M3904 sets - press the Options button, scroll down to 16, On hook default path, press Select, Headset selected followed by Done.
