Hello,

I have a Avaya 4412D+ phone on the merlin integrated system. This phone has a port for a headset underneath it. I have tried to use this port to no avail.

I plugged the headset adaptor into the headset port.
I then programmed a button to turn the headset status on/off.

Nothing else was in the instructions for me to do. I cannot hear anything through the headset from this port. I can however unplug the handset and and plug the headset into that port and be able to hear a dial tone. So I know the headset is working.

Can anyone tell me what I have missed?

Thanks,

Tracy

Are you using a base unit with the headset, or just the headset itself?

I am using an HIC-1 Headset cable plugged into the headset port on the 4412D+ model phone. From what I've read I should be able to hear something through the headset by plugging in the headset and then hitting the button I've program to active the headset. Nothing works using the headset port on the phone. There were no other instructions for activating the port.

Have you tried plugging in your handset to the headset port. It is the same thing. There really isn't anything needed to be done to enable the jack. You just plug in the headset lift the handset and you should hear dial tone. Or program the headset status and hangup buttons, then press the SA button for DT.

Try it on another set to see if the phone is bad?
