My HDD has crashed and is irrepairable. I have put in a new disk. Are there any utilities available that will allow me to restore my existing tape backup and software, then restore the new HDD in full from the tape?

Thanks,

I'm not sure I understand. It sounds like you dont have the tape software that was on the crashed HD?? No install cd? You may have to buy a new copy or call them to get a recovery CD sent to you. If it was MS backup, just do a clean install and it will be in your system tools.

Hi Doug,

Thanks for your quick response. I know what I am asking
is a bit confusing. Sorry for the confusion. Let me rephrase.

What I want to do (if possible) is have the device driver
for the tape drive loaded on a bootable media that brings
the new drive up after it has been Fdisked and formatted. probably to dos. Then start the tape backup and restore the
operating system from tape. Then reboot. I would like to
bypass loading the operating system. I know this probably
can't be done with out having to reload the operating
system from scratch. But was just curious.

Thanks,

Bill Ward
