HDD only showing space left on it and not data?

I have installed WinXP, after installing the OS my second HDD witch is 120 gig had about 80 gig of data on it, is now only showing free space. So windows is saying that my HDD is only about 40 gig. Can any help as I would like to recover the data if it is possible?

Your post is confusing. Perhaps you could write again, more clearly, and explain. What are your two disk drives? When you use Windows Computer Management application, select Disk Management, and you will see a graphical representation of all your disks. It will show any parititions on each disk. Describe what you see here, and we may be able to help you further.

what does it say about the drive in computer management, does it detect correctly?
