hi,
what tools can i use to clone a scsi hdd?
thanks

I think the majority favorite would be Norton (Symantec) Ghost v7.5 or in your case, you may get away with Personal Editions like v.200x .

What's the model of your SCSI card? Are you using a SCSI card meant for scanner? OK, during boot up, do you see the SCSI controller messages wherein it will assign SCSI id to HDD? I think you really have to read the manual of your SCSI card, maybe you need the ASPI driver after all. Is there a utility for your card to check whether it's working fine?

Some SCSI controllers are supported by ghost. The simplest solution would be to pop your drive in a working machine and run xcopy32 d:\*.* /c /h /e /r /k /s e:\*.* were d: is your source drive and e: is the destination you will of cource want the destination drive to be setup and bootable before the copy..

What version of Ghost are you running?

Ghost 2003 worked very well on my Dell Raid 10 and local Raid5.

You do not say which SCSI you are using so it is a bit difficult to guess the solution.

You may wish to look for W98/dos drivers for the SCSI card (if they exist), otherwise check the symantec site.

Hope this helps

Open your PC and take out the SCSI card and if embedded to the motherboard then get the model and search from the web. Do you have the PC/motherboard manual then check.

It doesn't matter whether or not dos picks it up...
If you have Ghost CE, and create a bootable disk, it will load up and everything will be fine.
Even if you boot up with a win98 disk, or otherwise, you should be able to run Ghost, and it should be able to detect the drives regardless of whether you can go to the c:\ prompt or otherwise.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Hi,

You could use Acronis True Image, backup software. Its great!

If you use the latest edition of Ghost it will almost certainly see your SCSI drive as it has built in ASPI drivers.

Perhaps you do not understand the way Ghost works?

You create a Win98/Dos Boot floppy by using the wizard, it can add support for CD/RW, USB and Parallel if required.

Then you boot that disk and choose to either load or write an image to or from the various devices supported.

When saving you can choose to compress the image and where you want to write it. 2003 can actually write back to another SCSI partition or to span CD/RW's.
