Hello all,
I have a little problem with a HD running windows XP. I was trying to burn a CD, and the was getting an error. I shutdown the burning software, however, the CD kept running and the computer wouldn't shut off. I had to do the unthinkable and hold the power button in to get the computer to shut down. Now, when I turn the computer on, it starts to boot up then shuts down. I installed a new hard drive, and set the original as a slave. Same problem, the computer starts to boot up then recognizes the slave drive and shuts off. I had a guy try the HD in his computer resulting in the same. WE hooked it up and started a computer running Lindows, and were able to access the HD. I ripped apart my exteral USB HD and installed the bad HD in it, thinking the computer wouldn't recognize it as a HD. As soon as the computer recognized the USB port, the computer shut off. I get a warning that says the computer is shutting down to prevent damage. I turned off all my virus protection, I know not wise, but did it anyway. Didn't help. Does anyone know what is going on, and know of a way I can get windows to recognize this HD?
