Got a news 160GB by WD. I am now formating it in Win2K NTFS, but it says its formating 131 Gigs. Why the loss of space?

If at first you don't succeed, reboot!

Read many prior posts about this topic before posting a duplicate question. Older BIOS supports only 130 gb or so, and you will need an upgrade, a new PATA (or SATA) card, or another work-around. Read your WD manual, which will explain your options.

Does your BIOS see the entire size of the hard drive? If not, then perhaps a BIOS flash is available from the board's manufacturer.

Windows 2000 must have at least SP3 installed, and a registry entry must be changed. See
