I've got a 10gig Fujitsu HD that's gone bad. Tried it in several machines and I can't get any of the computers to detect it. Short of spending $500 with a data recovery service, is there anything I can try to get it to work?

Thanks,
Art

only thing to try is get another drive excactly the same and swap the controller boards over that is if your old drive spins up had this problem with a 40gig fujitsu make sure that all the numbers on the drive and board match you should get your data off then

Also be aware that fujitsu had a drive recall covering a lot of models...

I've not tried any of these things personally, but this article gets recommended from time to time for hardware related harddrive problems.

If you have any intention of sending your drive out for recovery, trying these things first would not be wise - you risk further destroying your data.
