Hi guys...
I ran my O&O Defrag and found 54% defragmented! I was shocked, because i do regularly defrag every 3-4 months, and its around 8%-12%. Anyway, my O&O Defrag is stuck at 54%.(no problem defragging slave)
Does this mean my HD(Master)is on borrowed time?
Can i pull out my slave and put in a new HD and drag all my files over, and then take out the old master, reboot making the slave the master? ...and then defrag?

Is it that easy?
thanks...

Your defrag is reporting how mixed up your storage system happens to be, not the underlying condition of your hard drive.
It is possible that you have a problem, or possibly not, and the drive manufacturer's diagnostics would be the defining test.

You can copy your files across to another drive, then delete the originals and their directory, then copy back and clean up the space where you stored them temporarily. That will put the files into tne most contiguous space available on the original drive but not neccessarily as well as defrag would do it since defrag shuffles stuff around to get everything in order.

Thanks for the reply edfair
software? ok, i excluded folders till i found what was the hold up, and it was Microsoft Flightsimulator 9, a major folder(56+gigs). Now the defrag is working. And later will narrow down the folder that is majorly defragmented.
This episode did waken me up, i need to update my back up systems/files/serials/passwords/ect..

thanks again, have a good weekend
