HD data transfer problem!!!

Hey everyone,
I have a HUGE problem. Every time I'm trying to write large files to my HD I get a blue screen of death! Tried re-installing OS (win2k), get a message that some files have not been copied properly, and then again, a blue screen. ANy ideas why this bustard is going wack???

As a last resort, since you have already reinstalled your OS, you could reformat using the debug tool which will completely wipe out any corruptness or virus that may be related to your problem. Just go to the FAQ's area for this forum and look under the virus topic and you will see the one I wrote with full instructions on how to Debug a Hard Drive.

But it appears this problem is not related to any particular HD. I tried 3 different ones and still get the same results. Tried re-wiring, reformatting, disconnected all other components other than a single HD and a single CD, tried different CD drives. I'm leaning towards a BIOS problem...
Ideas?

If you think that it is a BIOS problem than just flash your BIOS to the most current version. I don't know what brand of computer you have, but I use a Dell Optiplex GX150 and all I have to do is go to their website and download it from the download drivers page then create a floppy and go from there.

Yeah,
That would've been too easy I got some generic, no-brand, built in the basement type of PC. It's running a dual Pentium 3 set up at 1Ghz each. What's also interesting, if I have the processors runnig at 1Ghz, then it doesn't detect a HD?! If you turn down the speed of the CPUs, then it sees it... WTF?!

Hi
I could be that your motherboard does not configure the ACPI part for IRQ sharing correctly to your OS.
Also make sure that you set your BIOS up as PLug & play OS to NO.

When you get a blue screen it most proberly give a IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL.

Make sure your BIOS is updated to the latest BIOS version.
