Having Problems with Norstar Hunt Group

For reasons unknown to me, I can not get this hunt group I am programming to work right.

After specifying the settings for Overflow to an actual extension of a live phone, calls that come in via the CCR tree, routing to the designated hunt group, do not enter voice mail of the Overflow extension as they should.

Instead I get the Norstar message:
'The person you have called is not available'

Then it kicks me back to the Hunt group without hitting the specified extension.

Do anybody know what I am doing wrong?

Press Feat 985 as it will tell you vmail's ext # then go into capabilities and make sure that the EXT you are reffering too is set to forward no answer to vmails ext# and I would change it to 3 rings from 4.

I am not understanding the solution for I am new to programming this system.

I can hit Feature 985 and get the vmail number, then I am not sure where to go.

The overflow value I entered within the Overflow part of Hunt Group programming is an actual phone extension with a valid mail box.

What do I need to do to set up the forwarding as requested?

Thanks for the help.
PS. My phone contractor is busy with other projects in another town and I need this fix ASAP :(

Correction, the Hunt Group is working fine. That does not seem to be the problem.

I can pick up any handset at work and hit my hunt group 589 and it will do exactly as specified in Hunt Group Programming, including forwarding to the Overflow extension.

Howeever, if I dial our 1800 main corporate number, and go through the CCR tree to the path that forwards to this hunt group, that is when I get the error message: 'The person you called is not available' and pops me back into the previous path of the CCR.

When I went into CCR programming, I discovered that it is indeed forwarding to my HG at extension 589.

In addition, the first phone of the sequential hunt group do ring when I call from outside the company via CCR routing. It stops ringing shortly, then the 'person not available message'.

Something is not set corrrectly somewhere and I can not place a finger on it. Hunt groups works internally but not accessed from CCR. Not sure why.

Any clues?

thanks.

calls to a hunt group that ring on a telephone do not forward to that extensions voicemail. you can however look at thread799-331127 and see how to make a virtual extension. I think you can create a hunt group with a DN, have that hunt group overflow to voice mail (the dn mailbox) and also have as a member your overflow phone. calls to your first hunt group would overflow to the second hunt group which is set to ring to a telephone and overflow to voicemail looking for the mailbox that has the same # as the hunt group.

read the thread carefully, the info about virtual extensions is very interesting.

set this up and try it, it may do what you are needing. JerryReeve
