Hi All,

I'm looking for ideas on how to go about giving callers an option if calls are not answered to leave a voice mail for the person or if it an emergency to transfer the call to the called person's cell phone.

I have an Audix 4.4 and a Definity G3si with Comm Mgr 2 software. I would like to do this in Audix if possible but am unsure how to go about getting it done there. I tried putting in an extension in the covering extension that has remote coverage to the cell but Audix kept saying all circuits busy. I checked the ports and they weren't all busy.

I thought of having the cell phone option phones cover to a vector but then I have to have each of the end users record an announcement in the Definity and then write them a Vector, messy and time consuming.

Thanks in advance for any responses

I made my users change their messages -- ".....you can leave me a voicemail message, or, if this is an emergency, you can call me on my cell phone at 555-1212".

I have a Prologix with Intuity Map 40 and set up AA for user with option 1 to ring desk set, option 2 route to Help Deska nd option 3 to route to cell phone via non-did number. I then added a non-did station to pbx with remote cover to cell phone and had no problem. Just keep in mind that AVAYA charges RTU for x-port station so you might want to set up as a TEG with no members and "r-cov p on all" if you pay for maintenance.

You would think that you could do this using the covering extension. I have never tried it myself, but have you checked the COR of your Audix ports to make sure that have an FRL that allows them to make a call to the PSTN?

Well this is what I did and it partially works.
I set-up a covering extension in Audix and also configured a mailbox for the covering extension.

In the Definity I made the covering extension a VDN which pointed to this vector.

01 wait-time 2 secs hearing silence
02 route-to number 912165551212 with cov n if unconditionally
03 stop

Here's the problem.
If I call the extension internally or on the local phone number than it works. I press 0 and it call the number. If I call from our 800 number I get a message from the telco operator saying that "the number you have reached is not in service, this is a recording" Very strange and I'm running out of ideas.

Thanks,

I ran into this awhile ago, configuring outcalling on Audix. If I remember correctly it had to do with the FRL. But I cannot remember which FRL I changed to make it work,,,, I think it was on the COR for the Audix Hunt group itself.. or if it was on the cor of the subscriber that I was giving outcalling permission to.

The VDN is not a DID number. I opened up the FRLs on Audix and the VDN's to be able to make local calls.

You could try this.

Set it up like the other have stated to a covering extension. Give the covering extension a cover path. Set that coverage path as a coverage remote. I haven't tried it but I am pretty sure the calls will got to the cell phone if you have that number in the coverage remote cover path. Set the path to "all calls" as yes and yes.

This worked for me with definity and intuity audix

Create vector
01 route-to number 91xxxxxxxxxx with cov n if unconditionally
02

Create VDN
Pointed to the new vector

Change my mailbox to auto-attendant
Button Extension Treatment Comment
1: xxxx (my ext) guest-greeting vmail
2: xxxx (my new vdn) transfer cell

Record new greeting in mailbox saying press 1 for vmail and 2 for emergency cell.

Why not just publish one number and have that number ring to both your desk and your cellphone simultaneously.. use the EC500 feature....you might have to purchase RTU/lis. Or another method would be to use time of day routing as well with a second cov path.... just some food for thought.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone who replied. I ended up going with jdrive's suggestion but instead of a vdn and vector I transferred the call to an X port station with a remote coverage path. I had to allow trunk to trunk transfers on the station that has the forward to voicemail option though.

Should I be concerned with allowing trunk to trunk transfers? I always heard that they can open you up to toll fraud.

Normaly yes. The trunk to trunk transfers can allow toll fraud. But in this case you are routing the calls to a particular number. So you should be OK on this.
