Hi everybody,

I have a data entry layout with tabs fields for the user to use. After entry is complete, I have a button for the user to select to start a process script.

I'm trying to have the button included as part of the tab order so that after entry is done, the button is high lighted and the user just presses the Enter key to start the script.

How do I get the button to be part of the tab order?

Thanks for any ideas

Joe

Hi Joe,

To have a button as part of the tab order, create a global field and use it as a button. In your script, use a go to field step to be sure that you get your user to the correct place. Graphically you can make a field look like a button, and if you don't allow entry into the field, the user won't know the difference.

For a cool trick, you can set the global field to different values during the script to prompt the user with a set field step, e.g. set the global to 'Continue' if you are in the middle of a process and require user input.

Hope it helps,

Michael

...or put your whole process into a scripted loop.

After the entry is done you could call the script to execute.

Depends what the input routine is.
I use this for numeric imput, goes fast and secure.
Is some work to build the script, but this is a one timer....

Thanks Balkbaby77 & JeanW ,

Can you give me a little clairfication. I did create a global field and turned it into a button. I also put it as the last in the tab order and didn't allow entry into the field by users.

What is happening is when the user first goes to this layout, they go through all the data entries fields but after the last one is entered, it rotates back to the first entry. It also doesn't stop at the last field I set up as the button. The user has to stop and select the button with a mouse to make it work.

The script I created to enter into this layout in the first place does create a new record and does a "go to field" on the first entry.

Is there something else I'm forgetting to do to keep the tabs from rotating back up to the 1st entry without stopping at the button field first?

Thanks for your time on this matter.

Is normal behavior. FM has no native scripttrigger after leaving a field.

You need a plug-in to do that, or put the whole imput in a loop.
For a plug-in, free and witg fairly good result, take a look at :
