I'm in the market to buy a new laptop, but nearly everything out there is installed with Vista (with the exception of Dell online, which still allows you to buy a system with XP on it, but it's a limited selection). I've seen a couple postings elsewhere where people claimed they have successfully installed Frame on Vista, but I was wondering if anyone out there has had any extensive experience with it, or can verify that the install is successful and that Frame is functional on Vista.

If you can get a computer with XP do it. My wife was forced into Vista and we think it is a nightmare.

I run FM 7.0 on an older ThinkPad (a T23 with 3/4 GB RAM) on Build 5840 (free from MS for attending their market launch in Feb) of Vista Ultimate. FrameMaker seems to work OK as long as I don't take too much time making selections on the GUI. Otherwise, FM 7.0 hangs and must be aborted/restarted.

Hmmm... I'm running Vista Premium 64-bit and have no issues. In fact Frame runs better than it did under XP. :)

Then again, I think the 64-bit version of Vista is far superior - and of course it doesn't come on laptops.

If you have a good Core 2 Duo machine w/4 GB RAM, I would seriously consider Vista 64-bit.

So, how did you get it to install, dadofamunky? The splashscreen install doesn't seem to do it (or the \FM\setup.exe even when run as administrator). Any hints?
