Has anyone had any experience with laptops that have gotten wet. A coworker's laptop got wet with rain water. What are the chances of getting it running again...if any???

If you don't want to take it to a professional (recommended) you can take it apart as much as you feel comfortable with and use a hairdryer to blow WARM air into a plastic bag in which you have placed the parts. (minus the battery) this may take several days/weeks but don't hurry the process.

If it was turned on while it was wet it may be fried.

Place the laptop, without the battery, in an oven with a very low heat of 110 to 120 f max. If you have to leave the door of the oven wedged partially open to keep the heat down, do it. Place an oven thermometer in with. Leave in for 12 hours. I would do it as soon as possible.
If only rainwater was involved, you have a good chance of resurection; but you must act quickly.

You need to have this unit taken apart and the boards clean with circuit board cleaner. If you do not do this the solder joints on the boards will corride and the unit will evently die. Hopefully you did not fire up the unit after it got wet.
