Has anyone ever tied BCM50 to BCM50 in different cities?

We're deploying one as we speak among 6 different cities. Just remember your connection is only as good as the internet will allow. Depending how many concurrent calls will be made across the BCM network you may need to provision a separate DSL for voice only

ipolmans,

I think this is what I need to do for one of my subscribers. They want to press an extension button and someone in another town or county would pick up as if they were in the same building..? Can you provide info on how to do, or where to find details to enable this function?

Thanks,

Kevin.

I will expand on the situation a bit more...
It is a private school. They currently have a Norstar system in place. A member donated a used Norstar system for the schools use. They now want to be able to put the system in service in another location and use extensions as if they were in the same building.

Thanks.

So is it a BCM 50 as you mentioned in your original post, or a norstar MICS, CICS, 8x24, 6x16, 3x8 etc... please identify the system and get back.

If its not BCM please start new post in the norstar: Nortel Systems Thread.

****Note if Not a BCM the only way to network is through a PRI with a MICS (which will cost a pretty penny) so you'd have to look into a new system.

My suggestion, Listen to Atcom and get yourself an Avaya IP Office!!! Then go with either IP Phones or an SCN as Atcom mentioned.

I am Kevin,

I am new to the phone business. I have a subscriber in our exchange (private school), who is using a Norstar system. Not sure how many lines are on it, I did not install it. They also received a complete, Norstar system as a donated gift. I was told the user of the gifted Norstar system, had it set up where they were able to press an extension, and someone in another town or county would pick up the line as if they were in the same building on the same system. How was this done? Did someone misunderstand the giver?

The private school is asking me to install the gifted system in another building, with no physical connection between the two buildings, to use it as if they were one system in the same building (extensions, paging, ect.) Is this possible?

Another phone system is not an option. The only option available to me is to make use of what they have between the 2 Norstar systems.

Thanks for your expertise and advice on this matter.

Kevin
