I have just read through everything dealing with faxing in the UM8000 installation manual.

My understanding is that the Voicemail system is supposed to recognize FAX CNG tones, receive the fax, and deliver it to email based on the incoming fax ID.

I've set it up probably 30 different ways; I have a DID going straight to the main voicemail hunt, I've tried a DID going straight to my personal greeting, I've tried setting up fax boxes.

The most I've managed to get is fax tones screaming in a voicemail message.

Does someone, ANYONE, have an example or how-to on how to set this up?

Just my 2¢

You didn't mention the type of system, but in general you will need to set up a virtual extension for your fax. Call forward that virtual all calls to voice mail. In the mailbox for the user put the virtual extension in as the fax extension in the mailbox. If the virtual matches the DID number your done. If not you might need to do digit conversion.

It's an SV8100 with a UM8000 voicemail.

Well, I tried your instructions... then when I went to send a fax, I got my voicemail.

Then, I said "Hmmm... let's try this way".... and I went to Call Management --> Fax Boxes --> Profile.

I added in a profile (DNIS 1016, if anybody cares) and made myself the owner of it. It *still* went to my voicemail.

It wouldn't recognize the fax tones generated from the fax machine.

Found it.

OK, you had the right idea. Set up a virtual, point it to the voicemail pilot.

Do NOT set up a fax box, do NOT set up a T-Box, just go into the profile and put the DNIS digits into the FaxID.

The reason it was hitting my voicemail is because I had DNIS translation going to 333@1047 (straight to my voicemail)... which was incorrect.
