Hello All,
Attempted to upgrade hardware unit from 500V1 to 500V2.
Rel 8.1
The existing V1 has a PRI card and an external expansion module and Vociemail Pro.
V2 had existing SD card in it.
“Saved configuration as” in V1 and sent it to V2.
Got message about going from 500 to 500V2
Config loaded system rebooted.
However, the PRI card never came up.
Also, when looking in system status monitor there was a message “ No essential License present”
And there was NO PRI trunks showing
Obviously had to go back to V1 to get everything working.
Is the PRI card in the V1 compatible with the V2 hardware?
Do I have to purchase another Essential License? I thought once I moved the config the essential license would come with it?
Any ideas- thanks

The essential licence is tied to the SD card or old feature card and not the config.

You will most likely see in the config is shows as invalid.

So does that mean I should purchase a new essential license for the SD card in the V2?

If you haven't done a licence swap to move it from the old to the new, then yes you will need to buy one. You would also need to move/swap any other licences that are on the old to the new if you wish to reuse them.

Thanks, so I would purchase a new V2 SD card with the licenses that are currently on the V1
Then load the config that is on the V1 to the V2
And then remove the SD card that is curently in the V2 and insert the new SD card with the licenses.
Is that correct?

You need to request a licence swap from the V1 feature key to the V2 SD card. This will provide you with a set of licences that will be valid on the SD card that match what is on the Feature Key.

If there is no Essential edition licence on the feature key then you will need to buy one of those and have it applied to the SD card.

There is no need to purchase another SD card.

The licences once received (usually in a spreadsheet) are applied to the config, they are then verified against the SD card number to become valid.

There will be no existing essential licence as the 500v1 can't run in basic mode, only the 500v2 can. So it would never have been needed even if they had upgraded more recently :)

Sorry it took so long for me to follow up on this had another job I got stuck on.
So I am clear-
I order another new SD card and do a license swap with all the licenses currently on the V1 plus add the essential license-
then insert that new SD card into the new V2 hardware;
then copy the entire config from the V1 to my PC;
Then open that V1 config in Manager;
then use "Send Config" to send that V1 config to the V2?
It will tell me I am going from 500>500V2
I say ok and the system will reboot and come up and work.
And it will not OverWrite the licenses that are on the new SD card in the V2?

Is that pretty much how it will go?

Almost... you can fire the config in, but you'll need to either change the licence entries to the newly issued ones in the config first or delete them and add the new licences to the config once it's all up and running, the licences will not come already loaded on the card, they are added in the same way the original ones were :)
