We have a ATT T1 (ISP) that connects to Cisco 1721 that connects to SonicWall TZ170 at our headquarters. We want to bring our remote warehouse (2.5 miles) away on to our network at the headquarters. What other hardware is needed? We are going to get a point-to-point circuit from our telco ATT. Can I just use another Cisco 1721 at the remote warehouse and then connect the interface from the telco point-to-point into the hq switches?

Thanks.

If you are getting a Layer-2 IP link installed, you don't need a router at your warehouse, just another switch connected to your switch at HQ.
If it is any other sort of link, you need a router to terminate both ends. Your existing HQ router will need a new interface of the appropriate type for whatever connection they are putting in.

The interface box at hq is a rj45. Is there a way to tell if it is layer 2, or ask telco? I will have to have 2 routers at hq and 1 at remote warehouse if it is not layer 2?

If the new link is not layer2 you would need to either slot-in a new ethernet(?) interface to your router or buy a new router.

Hopefully they've given you just a Layer2 link.
You might want to think about your security over that link and whether you should be encrypting your traffic.

Just spoke to telco and they said:

"The T-1 itself is actually Layer 1. The protocol we are using PPP is layer 2. Its layer 2. Should we do any multilink functionality it would be delivered layer 3. Layer 1 & 2 are the standard."

I guess that means I need a router at the warehouse and a new an additional WIC in HQ router. Right?

Sounds like you need a WIC at the HQ and WH. If you have more than one T1 from Telco then you do multi-link otherwise it should be simple config. Multi-link is not hard either. Just a little more work. 1721 has only two little slots!! For warehouse, I would start with (1) T1.
