I am using the following:

Smart and Friendly CD-R 8020
TDK CD that holds 650 mb
Burning at 4X

When trying to burn 533.3 mb, I received the following error:

Sense key = Medium error
Sense Code = 0x02
NO SEEK complete

Lead-in or Lead-out failed to be written.

I've put in a purchase request to upgrade Toast to version 5 and purchase a new burner, but until that gets approved, I'm in limbo. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

What model of mac are you using ?

Are you using SCSI or Firewire ?

We are using a G3 - Generation 1. The burner is SCSI but we have Firewire on the machine.

What is happening is the burner has to have the information that it needs at a set rate, if it can't get the information it will give you errors. Like one you are getting.

Wish version on Toast are you using ?

Where is the information you wish to Burner (Network or Harddrive) ?

We are currently using version 3.5.6. I've requested version 5 - I am hoping that will help.

I'm burning off of the hard drive.

Even version four should make a difference. Sorry missed the bit about 3.5.6

Good luck

One thing that you should do, especially with older Toast versions (5 is much better about this and having a burn-proof burner rules!) is:

1. Make sure you're optimized. If the drive directory is fraggged, you'll make coasters. Get around this by making a "temp" partition of 650MB and filling this up with the files to burn. When you're done with it, let Toast delete it or toss it.

2. Drop down your speed to 2X. Yah, I know, it's slow. You will be able to burn CD's though.

3. With older versions you should also: Turn off filesharing and anything else that's pulling in the background. Later versions of Toast got better about this.

Is there available software or an upgrade version of Adaptec Toast (Mac) that will easily allow you to drag and drop "newer" files onto already burned files of the same name on CD rewritables? As you would with a jaz or zip disk, you are prompted "do you wish to update your older file". This has frustrated me... you can do this on a PC however.
I am running version 3.5.6. Have not seen this file updating feature on latest versions. Can you help?

regards

I am having problems with Adaptec 4.1.1 for MAC on firewire
It worked fine until we re-installed it on a new harddrive
then it would not accept any files and folders for burning
whenever I try to burn any files and folders I get this error message:

couldn't complete last command because a file couldn't be found

Result Code = -43

the audio option works
