Hardware detection

I have a mixture of different computers accessing our website and I'd like to direct folks with older/slower CPU's to a page with less overhead that loads a faster. Is there any way to detect something that would let me divert them there?

As far as i know, thats no really possible. In any other case i would suggest to simply "recognize" their browser versions (the older the browser, the older the cpu) and then direct the guest based on that. however this can only be a rough way of judging the "speed" (and thats not only cpu but also ram and other settings).
