I have a partition that is no longer recognized after a power failure and therefore i have lost all the data on that partition. Is there anyway to get that back? Should i try a quick format and then using a after-format data recovery program? I have already tried some simple like "un-delete" utilities but they won't even browse that partition cause it not longer has a directory structure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many have reported good success with GetDataBack available at It's not free, and there are separate versions for FAT and NTFS. I recommend trying it before any further alteration to your partition is preformed.

Thanks for the program, but you won't believe what worked... Chkdsk. Took about 4 hours to run (50gb partiton) but almost the entire drive is in a nice little found.000 folder. So i guess that thing works sometimes (sorry to anyone at microsoft, but scandisk was a joke). Thank you again
