I'd like to increase the internal storage capacity of my ML370(G1) by replacing some 18.2GB Ultra3 160 drives with:

232432-B22 72.8GB Wide Ultra3 SCSI universal hot plug hard drive - 10,000 RPM, 3.5-inch form factor, 1.0-inch high - Has SCA 80-pin connector

HP's Part Surfer doesn't have this listed as one of the compatible drives for this server, but I'm wondering if they're really not compatible or just that the 73GB drives came out after the server.

Anyone know if there's any reason why these wouldn't/shouldn't work with this server & a SA431 Controller?

As far as I know there should not be any issue installing the 73GB drives. You are probably right with regards to the fact that they were not available at the time for that particular model, this is why you won't see them on the spare parts list.

Patrickrouse,
In late 2002 I replaced my six original 18.2GB drives with 72.8GB drives. I had no problems. Granted I also replaced my SMART Array 3200 with a 5302, but I don’t see you having any problems using the 72.8GB drives with the SA431.
