ASUS SP97-V mobo; Award Modular 4.51PG BIOS; Win98SE; HD recognizable maximum of 32GB.

Will two hard drives possibly be recognized? Or what will most likely happen?

(a 30GB and a 20GB)

Thanks!

Should be no problem. Just make sure both jumpered correctly (eg, if connected via same IDE cable, either both on cable select or one as master, one as slave - some drives have separate settings for master on its own and master with slave).

Not quite sure what you're asking, but I'll give my guess; the 32gig maximum is "per harddrive". You can have multiple 32gig harddrives installed, but not, say, a single 40gig harddrive.

My thanks to wolluf and dakota81!

That is first good news I've ever heard for my vintage '98 pc.

FYI:
You can use a larger hard drive than 32GB!!
Use the tool supplied with the HD to format it. Maxtor has MaxBlast, the others have there own. It will let you use a larger HD on an older system.
