Hi,
I'm having trouble trying to partition the hard drive on my Win 2K Pro system. I have cheched the help file and am trying to use "Disk Management" The help file says right click on an un-allocated region of a basic disk then click "create Partition". The trouble I am having is that my entire hard disk is showing as "Primary Partition" and when I right click "Create Partition" is not even an option. I have checked that my drive is a basic disk, so according to the help file this should work. Can anyone offer some advice, am I using the right tool for the job?

Many Thanks In Advance.

First of all....you are using the wrong tool.

Second...you can't create a new partition within the existing one (which is eating up your whole drive. You'll need to resize the existing partition so as to make some empty space to crete a new one.

Third....use a good partitioning tool such as Powerquest's Partition Magic 7...not 8.

TonyBose - what's wrong with PM8 - works as well or better than PM7 as far as I can tell.
