I just upgraded my system to winxp pro and everything is going fine except my hard drive light stays on all the time. It comes on as soon as I turn the power on. It continues to function just fine. I did not open my case or change anything hardware related. Is there perhaps a BIOS setting I need to change? I looked but could not detect anything.

Thank you

My system had a similar problem with my new DVD drive and Win98, and I read about a similar problem someone else had with a ZIP drive. I have determined that both problems are because the IDE channel will not allow the new types of drives, DVD's, ZIP's, and possibly other types (tape drives?), to operate normally unless they are the master device on the secondary channel. Simple as it sounds, I'm sure the electronic reason is related to the original specifications of the IDE channel and the work arounds being used by these new devices because these new devices couldn't have been anticipated when the specifications were written.
