I have recently combined the best components from 2 old pc's, at the point when i switched the finished pc on the hard drive crashed when loading windows. It has windows 2000 on it and loaded as far as the windows 2000 main screen, then crashed to a blue screen telling me an error had occured and i should check my hard drive and remove and new hard drives or hard drive controllers!! can anyone tell me why it should do this?

also, i formatted the origional hard drive that was with the motheroard origionally but when ai change the boot order it gives me an error ( NTLDR error )and wont even tell me that there is no operating system on it.?!?!

Can you boot into safe mode?
It could be down to the drivers that are installed, if this drive came from another machine & hasn't been re-installed from scratch.

no, i cant boot passed the win 2000 screen, none of the options in F8 list make a difference, the hard drive has been fomatted and win 2000 installed from scratch before i put it in.

If you installed Windows 2000 before you installed the drive into this computer I think your best bet is to start again, because the drivers that are on the drive may not be compatable with your hardware.

OK, IL GIVE THAT A WHIRL TONIGHT, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
